Room #304

Hello Liz and Jason!

Here she is 🙂 The next possible painting, and please note that I use the word ‘possible’ very intentionally. I am very happy to keep exploring for as long as you are content that I am exploring.

I feel that we are closer in this work than in the previous pieces. The painting is a composite view. The sharply descending urban streets of North Vancouver are the inspiration for the foreground, with my favorite view from Capitol Hill in Burnaby, creates the backdrop of the vista. Essentially, a marriage of 2 of my favorite spaces in the city. Two spaces I regularly visit to absorb the magnificent beauty and juxtapositions of this part of the world. The views are very compatible as the only change is that the North Vancouver street ends with a view of Vancouver and the Capitol Hill view starts with the lead-in of a residential street.

The little ski slope that just pops its head in on the upper right of the painting is ‘The Cut’, a run on Grouse Mountain. The mountain that you would have seen watching over the city but without her winter gear on.

As I mentioned before, it is always a little tough to be sure that the colors are accurate on all the different monitors but the photo is shot and edited with the help of a grey card and a color card which technically introduces an objective standard against which to measure the colors.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts 🙂
